Free White paper - LEAN
Electrical Whitepaper
As manufacturing operations implement lean
processes to drive down costs by focusing on the value delivered to the end customer, many questions
remain.
·How does Lean Manufacturing impact
the building of electrical panels?
·How can I reduce
the costs in my panels by leveraging lean techniques?
·What do I need
to do first?
This paper will discuss how you can leverage
Lean Operations, A Lean Supply Chain, and Lean Design of your electrical panels to meet our
key goals. Written by John E. Boyer, a nationally known Lean expert with over 20 years
of operational experience, this paper will walk you through, step by step the areas you need
to focus on first to lower your costs and improve your bottom line.

| Tmax
T2; Electronic Intelligence - Performance Power - Small Size |
 |
ABB
The new range of ABB SACE Tmax T2, 100A Frame molded-case circuit-breakers, is enriched
by the presence of the latest generation electronic microprocessor-based trip unit.
This equips Tmax T2 with the ability to fulfill the most varied and severe 480 Vac
applications in electrical installations. The bifurcated contacts means that high
breaking capacity values and strong limitation of the short-circuit peak current and
specific let-through energy can be achieved. The T2 with the electronic microprocessor-based
trip unit provides a unique solution to low voltage protection and selective coordination
requirements.
Important Features:
- Smaller frame size saves panel space
- 100 A frame size fits in your hand
- Field mountable, accurate electronic trip unit
- 3 or 4 poles available
- Up to 480 VAC rated
- Bifurcated contacts allow high breaking capacity
- Interrupt rating up to 65 kA at 480 VAC
- Full set of interchangeable accessories

Design review saves Garb-el over $100k/yr; Lower component and warranty costs |
 |
|
Garb-el
invited ABB's engineers to review their control system to see if a new design could
lower their warranty cost. The ABB system design review process provided a 4 point "value
boosting" solution:
- Lowered the warranty cost by $183/unit
- Lowered the cost of panel components by $197/unit
- Improved machine control by allowing the operator to more effectively and quickly
control the machine
- Lengthen the life of the components by making the entire electrical installation
NEMA 4X
The ABB application engineers demonstrated that a complete design review, focused on
the equipment's value to their customer not only solved the warranty problem but increased
the quality and the perceived value of the equipment. Further benefits included lowered
manufacturing cost by eliminating components, reducing the number of connection points
and reducing wasted effort in manufacturing and service. The net savings for 300 machines
produced annually was over $114,060.
As they grow, Garb-el plans to have their panels built by ABB in order to streamline
their processes and maintain their manufacturing cost.
See how ABB can apply LEAN control principals to your equipment; increasing value and
eliminating waste.

| New Solid
State Timer Replaces 3 Conventional Timers, Custom Functions Available |
 |
|
ABB
is please to announce this addition to the patented ProgramaCube® family of factory
programmable timers and counters. Factory programmed means you do not need a programmer
on staff and all ranges and functions are available at standard lead times. Custom
software functions can be created to eliminate up to 3 conventional timers or counters.
HSPZ can replace a microPLC or a logic relay in single output applications dramatically
cutting system cost. It offers dual switch adjustable timer, counter or logic relay
functions. Switch adjustment means accurate selection of the time delay, the first
time and everytime; eliminating the "trial and error" adjustment of knob adjust timers.
All units are shipped with the UL, CSA and CE logos and are backed by an exclusive
10 Year Warranty.
Important Features:
- 1 A Solid State Provides 100 million operations, typical
- 0.1% Repeat Accuracy, 1% Setting Accuracy
