Free White paper - LEAN Electrical Whitepaper

As manufacturing operations implement lean processes to drive down costs by focusing on the value delivered to the end customer, many questions remain.

·How does Lean Manufacturing impact the building of electrical panels?
·How can I reduce the costs in my panels by leveraging lean techniques?
·What do I need to do first?

This paper will discuss how you can leverage Lean Operations, A Lean Supply Chain, and Lean Design of your electrical panels to meet our key goals.  Written by John E. Boyer, a nationally known Lean expert with over 20 years of operational experience, this paper will walk you through, step by step the areas you need to focus on first to lower your costs and improve your bottom line.

ABB Design review saves Garb-el over $100k/yr; Lower component and warranty costs

Garb-el invited ABB's engineers to review their control system to see if a new design could lower their warranty cost. The ABB system design review process provided a 4 point "value boosting" solution:

  • Lowered the warranty cost by $183/unit
  • Lowered the cost of panel components by $197/unit
  • Improved machine control by allowing the operator to more effectively and quickly control the machine
  • Lengthen the life of the components by making the entire electrical installation NEMA 4X
The ABB application engineers demonstrated that a complete design review, focused on the equipment's value to their customer not only solved the warranty problem but increased the quality and the perceived value of the equipment. Further benefits included lowered manufacturing cost by eliminating components, reducing the number of connection points and reducing wasted effort in manufacturing and service. The net savings for 300 machines produced annually was over $114,060.
As they grow, Garb-el plans to have their panels built by ABB in order to streamline their processes and maintain their manufacturing cost.
