Direct Connection Bars for Large A/AF contactors and T-Max breakers

If you need to save Time, Space and Labor on your combination starters, ABB can help!

When building combination starters finding ways to save time, space and cost can be challenging.  ABB is here to help.  Our new line of solid copper connection bars allow you to direct connect the A/AF contactors to the Tmax breakers.  This saves time by eliminating the need to cut and strip cable and the additional space between the two devices.  The connection set also includes a mounting plate for the breaker and phase barriers.

Two new sizes of Magnetically Latched contactors type AM110 and AM 185

Need help eliminating contactor drop outs or energy savings on continuous duty applications, ABB has the answer!

To compliment the A/AF contactor line, ABB has introducing two new magnetically latched contactors, AM110 and AM185.
These two contactors expand our offering of magnetically latched contactors from 9 Amps through 250A, UL general purpose rating.
The contactors AM110 and AM185 have the same electrical ratings as the corresponding A/AF contactors and are available in two control voltage versions, 110-125 and 220-240V AC/DC.

These contactors help eliminate nuisance drop outs in those circuits where standard contactors would chatter from excessive voltage drops or control circuit voltage failures.

They also provide energy savings in distribution applications, uninterrupted duty, or current carrying duty when compared to standard contactors.

Understanding NFPA, NEC 2005 Article 409 a White Paper by Paul A. Terry, P.E.

New rules on Industrial control panels got you confused; ABB is here to help with a great White Paper by Paul A. Terry P.E. on Understanding NFPA, NEC 2005 Article 409.

NEC 2005 has incorporated a brand new article, Article 409, to facilitate the safe design, marking, installation, and inspection of industrial control panels.  The new article closes the loop and addresses areas of inconsistencies found in previous versions of the National Electric Code (NEC).

This white paper provides an overview of the following:

  • The National Fire Protection Association’s jurisdiction and actions
  • NEC changes that affect proper marking for industrial control panels (ICPs)
  • Methods that can be used to ensure that an ICP is in compliance with the new code
  • When the new NEC code will be enforced
  • Examples that illustrate these topics and show how ICP’s should be marked to meet the new NEC code

Understanding RoHS: Are you affected by the RoHS & WEEE Directives?

Understanding RoHS:
• Restriction of the Use of Certain hazardous Substances in EEE
• Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE)

Are you affected by the RoHS & WEEE Directives?
This whitepaper is a must read to determine if your products need to meet these directives.  The directive applies to only certain types of products sold in Europe, irrespective of their place of manufacture.  Any business that sells applicable electronic products, sub-assemblies, or components with restricted materials, directly or through a reseller to EU countries, is impacted.

What is RoHS?
RoHS, also known as Lead-Free, is the acronym for Restriction of Hazardous Substances.

RoHS Directive 2002/95/EC originated in the European Union. The purpose of the directive is to restrict the use of hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment.

What is WEEE?
WEEE is the acronym for Waste from Electrical and Electronic Equipment. WEEE, also known as Directive 2002/96/EC mandates the treatment, recovery and recycling of electric and electronic equipment.

How are RoHS and WEEE related?
Both the directives apply to the same type of equipment (Electrical and Electronic
Equipment). The RoHS directive provides for the elimination upfront (during the design
stage) of certain hazardous materials in electrical and electronic equipment (EEE). The WEEE directive provides for the selective collection, treatment and other forms of recovery and disposal of waste electrical and electronic equipment.
